Trade unions ask Putin to nationalize firms leaving Russia

MOSCOW, Apr 20 (PRIME) -- The Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia has asked President Vladimir Putin to nationalize the assets of companies that leave the country, according to an open letter published Wednesday,

"In order to consolidate and strengthen the country, protect the interests of employees, we insist on nconditional nationalization of assets of companies from the unfriendly states that fulfilling demands of their governments … leave their facilities, leave their employees without work, consumers without products, related industries without orders," the statement read.

The State Duma, parliament's lower chamber, is considering a bill on external management of the assets of the companies that quit the market.
